I am so LOVING my lush GLAM lashes by Liv! My eyes have never looked so alive & sparkly even while working until 1:30am! Of course one might say it could have been the sheer awe & disbelief, as I couldn't stop staring in the mirror at my new & improved lashes! MILAGRO fans, seriously this is no joke! This is REALLY fun! I've always been a late bloomer and never really into girly stuff like makeup & certainly not false eyelashes (very strange for someone who entertains & sings for a living) BUT now with the work and craftsmanship that are my lashes by liv...I'm hooked! I can't imagine life without them or her! I fell asleep on the table AND made a new friend with a GORGEOUS, simply gorgeous soul!
I learned a valuable lesson last night at my appointment with Liv ...they say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder...then perhaps the gift of self-confidence can also come at the hands of a magical beauty guru such as Liv...because when a gift is handcrafted & bathed in love, it’s always so much better!
Now many of you may find this rather strange that on the eve of quite possibly THE most important gig of my life, here I am talking like a girl about glammy eyelashes....
Tomorrow is the big day, the very first international, digital release of my new single AND music video called MILAGRO (Asi es la Vida). Many have heard me talking about the benefit for my non-profit Peanut Butter and JAMMusic Sessions for Kids on my weekly radio show (Women & Legends Who REALLY Rock! on blogtalkradio.com - coincidentally, I'm working on some FABULOUS upcoming interviews with Beyonce's Bass Player, Divinity, NBC 11 Janice Edwards and Tommy Johnston (Doobie Bros) and his 19 year-old daughter singer. Lara Johnston)… and some people have already graciously donated much needed funds or in-kind donations or services…but how the hell do lashes fit into the scheme of things?
Well, perhaps not too many men, will find what I have to say of any relevance but I do believe many many women will, you see even though I talk about it all the time on my radio show, the idea that we MUST take care of ourselves, nurture our spirit and our bodies, I will be the first to say that I am one of the worst offenders for NOT doing exactly that. In the last few months, I have been taking care of so many others, worried about loved ones, worried about things beyond my control as well as riding some incredible highs such as writing AMAZING songs, recording with some of my idols, mentors and friends, filming & coordinating a video shoot and benefit. Giving, giving & giving but all the while neglecting myself to the point of exhaustion and sometimes even a small funk here & there.
And on top of all that I was rear ended last week so my spirit has been, how shall I put it? Rather fragile at times.
A referral from my dear friend Darlene lead me to Liv for my eyelashes. However it was the way in which she cared for my lashes and my spirit that fueled me in exactly the way I needed. As I fell asleep while she worked on me, I just felt blissful, secure and well cared for….why? Because Liv really truly LOVES what she does and all of that love flows from her heart to her thoughts and her voice and out through her fingertips as she skillfully transformed some very tired and weary eyes to fun & sparkly ones. I’m not going to tell you that the collagen under eye masks were cause for a little bit of weepy eyes, but I’ll say this, it was a good excuse. Amazing how a little thing like this can rejuvenate, revitalize and restore a weary soul & and battle weary body…but for me it was quite wonderful…and you know sometimes it takes a village to care for and maintain an entertainer/performer/singer AND it takes a village to support & nurture PB&JAMMusic Sessions for Kids whose mission it is to inspire children from all walks of life and all flavors to explore the world of music and to open the doors to a child’s portal for imaginative and creative thinking! I can stand here all day and talk about it…But really sometimes pictures, videos and the website http://www.pbjamm.org that says it all…so please do take a look around and perhaps you’ll be inspired to donate a little bit! Or come to our benefit MILAGRO Music Video premiere and concert on Friday 6/26/09. BAGs (11-year olds – an all-girl pre-tween band) at 8pm and The Carmen Milagro Band at 9pm. Doors open at 7pm to the public $20 ticket at The Union Room at Biscuits & Blues 401 Mason Street SF, CA (ticket sales benefit pbjamm.org) and go ahead check out my lashes!
